Good news for researchers in the field of cancer studies

According to a report from the correspondent of the Virtual Institute of Biochemistry and Computing Bioinformatics, Dr. Kamran Mansouri (Head of the Medical Biology Research Center, Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences), along with Dr. Mohsen Asghari (professor in the field of peptide design in the University of Guilan, Iran) and Dr. Saber Zahari (professor of  Department of Molecular Biology, University of Mohaghegh Ardabili, Iran) has succeeded in designing unique peptides that can completely stop tumor growth and angiogenesis in cancer cells completely

Dr. Mansouri said this project has been the result of a teamwork of researchers at these universities which has focused on a definite pathway in cancer development. These peptides have been able to prevent the function between VEGFs and VEGFRs by creating cell-mediated perturbations. He added “Fortunately, the results of the work have been successful on the two cell and animal models and the efforts continued to introduce the peptides in the pre-clinical phase
